MISSION
The mission of the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa is to create a better future through brain injury prevention, advocacy, education, research, and support.
OUR HISTORY
Starting as an all-volunteer organization in the 1980s, BIAIA has worked tirelessly for decades as an advocacy hub for statewide legislative and policy change building partnerships across the state of Iowa to serve Iowans with brain injury, their family members, unpaid caregivers, community and professionals engaging them.
BIAIA is staffed by a team of professionals to deliver Brain Injury Resource Facilitation services, support the development and deployment of an array of research-based and national best-practice services designed to support Iowans with brain injury in accessing and keeping a range of services and supports to help reduce the level of “disability” resulting from brain injury.
BIAIA aspires to promote best practices across our organization and the communities we serve; striving to promote continuous learning and improvement processes while we work to develop accessible services for Iowans.
BIAIA seeks to engage in collaboration with public and private partnerships to support programs and policy that impact not only Iowans with brain injury but also other Iowans with disabilities. BIAIA provides education, to help raise awareness about brain injuries and help prevent them and are here to serve the estimated 600,000 Iowa adults that report a lifetime history of brain injury.
