Page - Older Adults
As “Baby Boomers” continue to age in the state of Iowa, the number of older adults with a brain injury also continues to grow. Prevention is key to reducing brain injury among older adults—falls are the leading cause of brain injury for all Iowans including the elderly, who are especially susceptible. It is also important to help reduce the risk for subsequent brain injuries while also encouraging individuals to maintain their independence within their homes and communities.
There are a variety of resources available to aging adults in Iowa to help address challenges after a brain injury and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
