Screenings of “The Miracle Season” to benefit BIAIA

On Friday, April 6, the movie “The Miracle Season” opens in movie theaters nationwide. It tells the story of the state-champion Iowa City West High volleyball team and its star player and captain, Caroline “Line” Found, who lost her life in a tragic moped crash in 2011. Her mom, Ellyn, who had been sick with cancer, died just a few weeks after. No spoilers here, but the movie tells the story of how the team–and Caroline’s friends and family–managed to pick up the pieces and carry on with their lives after their sudden and tremendous losses.

We are so grateful that FilmScene in Iowa City will be donating a portion of ticket sales from their screenings of The Miracle Season to support the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa!

There’s no way to go back in time and change history, and there’s no use in asking, “What if?”–That lesson is certainly learned by watching the movie.

We will never know if a helmet might have saved Caroline Found’s life–but we know for certain that helmets DO save lives.

That’s why we have been advocating at the statehouse for years to get “Line’s Law” passed–which would require moped and motorcycle drivers under 18 to wear helmets. It’s why we’ll be giving away free bike helmets and coupons for discounts on motorcycle helmets from MopedU on the ped mall (at the Live Like Line bench) on April 8.

And it’s why we continue to implore you:

Please wear your helmets, whenever you’re riding on mopeds, motorcycles, bicycles, skateboards, ATVs, and the like. Honor Line’s life by protecting your own. #LiveLikeLine
